Next up for the Carlee Russell case |
|
|
Hoover police on Monday read the statement from Carlee Russell admitting that she was never abducted from alongside Interstate 459 and that she never saw a toddler on the side of the highway, reports AL.com's Carol Robinson. All that had been pretty evident since more facts came out last week regarding her actions before and after the two-day missing-person search for her. That search required resources from multiple agencies. Stylish Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis called it an "all hands on deck" situation. “We don’t have a dollar figure yet but we’re certainly working on getting one and not only ours, but the other agencies that gave us a lot of support," he said. You see where we're going with this. In Alabama, there are laws against false reporting to law enforcement that can bring misdemeanor charges. So far, no charges have been filed against Carlee Russell, although Derzis said police and the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office are considering whether or not there might be charges pursued in this case. |

UAB Hospital announced the first successful childbirth through uterine transplant at its Comprehensive Transplant Institute, reports AL.com's Williesha Morris. UAB's program is one of only four in the nation, and it's the first in the world that's outside a clinical research trial. Fewer than a hundred women have undergone a uterine transplant, according to Dr. Brian Casey. Of course, even fewer than that have successfully delivered a baby. The uterus is transplanted so the patient can undergo invitro fertilization. If it's not going to be used for another child, the uterus is then removed so mom can stop taking immunosuppressive meds. |

We're not going to be food snobs here. You know, like the people who get bent out of shape when somebody puts ketchup on a hot dog. I mean, it's a dadgum hot dog. Put Deviled Ham on it for all I care. But you do get to a point where adding some things to food is probably a worse idea than adding others. The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office said it arrested a suspect after deputies found methamphetamine in his hamburger, reports AL.com's William Thornton. To be clear, it was a small bag of meth allegedly hidden in his burger. The Sheriff's Office said the deputies made a traffic stop, discovered the 45-year-old driver had a revoked license and a switched tag, and were planning to impound the vehicle. They said the driver kept saying he was hungry and wanted to eat his hamburger. They said they searched the hamburger and found the surprise. |

Down in Alabama Meth-Free Skillet Cheeseburger 8 hamburger buns 8 slices of sharp cheddar cheese 1 large Vidalia onion, cut into thick slices. A little extra won't hurt you a bit. Butter For patties: 2 pounds lean ground beef (we're on a cholesterol diet) 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon each of: Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder No crystal meth Dress it up with: Mustard, Heinz 57, dill slices, tomato, lettuce Directions: Sautee onion in a little butter. Combine patty ingredients, form into eight burgers and add to skillet as the onion finishes caramelizing. NOTE: At this point, do not add any crystal meth. When the onion and burgers are done to your satisfaction, re-butter the skillet, sprinkle a little more garlic powder, and lightly toast the buns on it. IMPORTANT: As the buns are toasting, avoid adding crystal meth. Assemble everything and enjoy with your favorite cut of fried potato and an ice-cold drink. If you're feeling wild, maybe have yourself a ladleful of baked beans or even some coleslaw. But definitely not crystal meth. |
