Vape ban to move forward while lawsuit plays out

State vape ban: A Baton Rouge judge on Wednesday refused to stop a state ban on certain flavored vapes while a lawsuit against that ban plays out, Meghan Friedmann reports. The state is expected to release a full list of banned vapes by Friday.

Landry names top aide: Gov.-elect Jeff Landry has named former state House Speaker Taylor Barras as his chief budget architect, continuing a tradition in Louisiana politics of tapping legislative leaders to the post, James Finn reports.

Angola woes: The federal government will assume control of the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola after a judge found that prison officials have long ignored inmates' medical needs, Jackie DeRobertis reports. The feds will create and enforce prison policies.
