All faculty and staff are encouraged to participate. Please contact Lacey Undem at lacey.undem@vcsu.edu to sign-up for this event.

VanHorn named CSTAND Scholar of the Year

Shannon VanHorn, Ph.D., professor in the VCSU School of Education and Graduate Studies, was named 2018–19 Scholar of the Year by the Communication, Speech, and Theatre Association of North Dakota (CSTAND) at their annual conference held Sept. 14-15, in Mandan, N.D. VanHorn has published articles in such journals as “Argumentation and Advocacy,” “Communication Quarterly,” “Qualitative Research Reports,” the “Journal of the Communication, Speech, and Theatre Association of North Dakota,” and most recently, the “Journal of Communication Pedagogy.” In addition, she has written chapters in several books.

Kringlie and Scherr receive 'Difference Maker' award

Erik Kringlie, director for data centers and virtualization, and Lonney Scherr, systems administrator, received the “Difference Maker” award on Sept. 26. They were nominated by the Foundation Office, President's Office and Institutional Research.

The nomination read, “Lonney and Erik are extremely helpful setting up the various permissions and programs that we need in our office. They are very knowledgeable in how the various programs work and the interactions with different browsers. Much of what they do is behind the scenes troubleshooting before there is ever a noticeable issue. They are both difference makers at VCSU!”
