Fisheries and wildlife group attends Wildlife Society meeting Ten fisheries and wildlife science students and Bob Anderson, professor of science, attended the North Dakota Chapter of The Wildlife Society (NDCTWS) Conference in Mandan, N.D., Feb.13-15.
Students participated in all aspects of the conference, including the Student/Professional Luncheon. VCSU student Ellen Anderson was awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Wildlife Student Award and Scholarship at the awards banquet.
The NDCTWS provides a forum for discussion of ecological issues among natural resource professionals to enable its membership to pursue conservation of natural resources and to inform the public on ecologically wise uses of natural resources in support of a conservation ethic. The NDCTWS is specifically concerned with approaches to effective management of North Dakota’s plant and animal communities. Redfearn attends choral directors conference Christopher Redfearn, D.A., associate professor and chair of the VCSU Department of Music, participated in the 2019 national conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) from Feb. 26-March 1 in Kansas City, Missouri.
During the conference, Redfearn attended choral literature reading sessions and concerts from peer-reviewed choral ensembles, as well as connecting with composers and producers of choral literature and pedagogical materials.
In addition, Redfearn participated as a member of the conference’s Legacy Directors Choir. The 80-member choir, chosen through an application process, was directed by a committee of “legacy directors” in the field. The choir rehearsed for a total of seven hours during the conference, with their performance held in the renowned Muriel Kauffman Theater on March 1.
Redfearn serves as collegiate coordinator for the North Dakota chapter of ACDA.
