Faculty/staff invited to alumni social at country club Wednesday

All faculty and staff are invited to attend a VCSU Alumni and Friends Social to be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Valley City Town and Country Club.

This is a great chance to mingle and network with our local alumni and friends of VCSU.

Free chili will be served. It you plan to attend, please RSVP to Kim Hesch at 3-7403 or kim.hesch@vcsu.edu by Tuesday, Jan. 14.

“Grand Entry - Regalia” artist talk and closing reception Thursday

An artist talk and closing reception for, “Grand Entry - Regalia,” an art exhibit by visiting artist, Linda Whitney, professor emerita of art, will be held Jan. 16 from 4-5:30 p.m. in McCarthy 356. An alternate date of Jan. 23, 2020, has been set in case of inclement weather. The art exhibition is on display in McCarthy Gallery through Jan. 27.

Whitney won the Prize for Originality and for Breaking Classical Boundaries at the Fifth International Mezzotint Festival held in Ekaterinburg, Russia, in August 2019. Seven of her mezzotints were accepted for the Open Competition exhibition including “Red Fancy Shawl Dancer” (pictured), which is featured in the exhibition at VCSU.

Klettke joins VCSU as career services director

Kari Klettke has joined the Valley City State University staff as director for career services.

At VCSU, Klettke will provide career counseling services and direct internship and other experiential education programs such as job shadowing and mentoring. She will also work with area and regional employers to assess workforce needs and assist students with employment opportunities.

We All Row: Faculty/Staff Giving Campaign update

Thank you to all who have contributed to helping sail this ship! So far, we have a participation rate of 66% in the faculty/staff giving campaign.

Our scholarship commitment for the year is $1.723 million. Won’t you please consider joining the ranks of those supporting student scholarships at VCSU. There is no minimum contribution and every donation helps!

Viking Sports Update

Men’s Basketball
Friday: VCSU 80, Dakota State 62
Saturday: Bellevue University 72, VCSU 65
The Viking men posted a 1-1 record this week as they resumed conference play. VCSU is now 4-12 overall and 1-2 in the North Star Athletic Association. The Vikings play at Waldorf University on Friday and Viterbo University on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball
Tuesday: Univ. of Jamestown 80, VCSU 65
Friday: VCSU 82, Dakota State 72
Saturday: Bellevue University 72, VCSU 63
The VCSU women’s basketball team picked up a win on Friday, defeating Dakota State 82-72 in a conference game. The Vikings are now 4-9 overall and 2-1 in conference play. VCSU is on the road this weekend for games at Waldorf University and Viterbo University.
