Kuipers to speak on “Secrets of the Masonic Lodge” on Thursday

Gilbert Kuipers, Ph.D., VCSU professor emeritus, will present “Secrets of the Masonic Lodge” at the Barnes County Museum on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.

Kuipers will speak on the history of freemasonry and its connections to medieval mysteries. The presentation, open to the public free of charge, is part of season 21 of the Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series.

Krumwiede to be inducted into Austin (Minn.) Hall of Fame

Lisa (Bue) Krumwiede, assistant professor in the Department of Technology, will be one of six inductees in the Austin (Minn.) High School Hall of Fame over the Jan. 31-Feb. 1 weekend.

At Austin High School, Krumwiede won 13 letters in 3 sports — tennis, track and basketball. She earned all-conference honors twice in track, and she earned state academic honors in both tennis and track, but her basketball career was exceptional. Krumwiede was named to the Minnesota all-state teams in 2003 and 2004, and she is Austin High School’s all-time leading scorer with 1,592 points in 99 games.

She went on to play at North Dakota State University, where she earned Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Year honors in 2008. Krumwiede played two years of professional basketball in Europe.
