Venture capital event set for September goes virtual

Next Venture Pitch 2020, an annual conference for entrepreneurs and venture capital funds in the Carolinas, has secured a schedule of speakers, events, panels and tracks for a virtual conference in September.

Cayce-West Columbia chamber kicks off branding campaign

Each city will appoint four members to a community branding committee, which will begin meeting virtually next week. A request for proposals for creative and membership services will be sent to all chamber members on Sept. 4.

Midlands Reading Consortium receives $60,000 gift

Columbia-based insurance company Colonial Life made the gift to the United Way of the Midlands tutoring initiative. The program served almost 700 students Richland, Lexington, Newberry, Fairfield and Orangeburg counties last year.

Charleston Harbor deepening project on schedule

The project, which has been funded through state and federal dollars, will deepen Charleston Harbor to 52 feet. The deepening is on track to be completed by mid-2022 and will make Charleston Harbor the deepest on the East Coast.
