Summer's farewell this weekend. Above-average temperatures continue through Saturday then the month ends on a much colder note. Northern Minnesota will see highs in the 60s Saturday with southern Minnesota possibly in the 70s and a couple isolated 80s are possible. The cooler air then lingers through the week with chillier highs in the 50s for parts of the state by midweek.

Verbal abuse, intimidation halts COVID-19 door-knocking survey in Minnesota.
Racism and implied threats of violence have stopped the work of public health care workers on a project looking at how the coronavirus spreads. That includes an incident in far southeastern Minnesota where workers were confronted by three men, one with a holstered gun. Some people of color on the team were reporting being subjected to racial slurs.

Another day of record-high new case count; deaths near 2KState health officials Friday reported nearly 1,200 new confirmed cases — the second highest daily case count in the pandemic. The increase came with high testing levels. The latest data also shows hospital admissions rising especially among patients who don't need intensive care. The state reported six more Minnesotans died from COVID-19, bringing the state total to 1,994.
