Veto showdown in Baton Rouge

By Jessica Williams | Capitol News Bureau Editor

Veto showdown: State lawmakers will return to Baton Rouge this week to potentially override some of Gov. John Bel Edwards' recent vetoes of their legislation, James Finn reports. Lawmakers are particularly concerned with Edwards' vetoes of three bills that affect LGBTQ+ residents.

LGBTQ+ care: Six gubernatorial candidates would have backed the state Legislature's ban on gender-affirming care for children, they said recently. The exception was Shawn Wilson, the lone Democrat in the race, Tyler Bridges reports.

Richard Nelson: Nelson, a long shot in the race for Louisiana governor, supports legalizing marijuana and rape and incest exceptions to the state's abortion ban, among other ideas. Bridges has the story, the first in a series of profiles on major gubernatorial candidates.
