Why This Matters: I was skeptical of this headline and Im still not completely sold, but I must admit I was moved by the mission of this program: to "incorporate face-to-face and experiential learning, but also use advanced video technology to encourage team-teaching and cross-program student projects across the globe. Im a proud study abroad alum (Semester at Sea graduates, high-five!), and I believe that my international learning experience changed the course of my life. It still informs the way I see the world. But it was also a very expensive semester. For students who cannot afford to pay the premium cost of studying abroad, or who cant leave work or family, could this technology offer an alternative? |
