The Australian

Good afternoon,

Qantas has raised the stakes in the Virgin Australia-Qatar Airways deal by claiming any tie-up by its rival would undermine conditions, pay and cost Australian jobs.

Meanwhile, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has opened public hearings for its inquiry into the supermarkets , and consumer groups, industry bodies and supermarket execs are expected to provide testimony.

And pub baron Jon Adgemis is facing down Adelaide-based financier Angas Securities , which is seeking to recoup millions of dollars owed on a $25m Bondi beachfront building.
