Maine tests more residents for COVID-19, with ‘every reason to believe’ it will come here

  • The state is in the process of testing about a dozen new individuals for the COVID-19 virus, while hospitals have been isolating patients who show flu-like symptoms associated with the infection. Schools have been taking extra precautions such as cleaning buses after every use, and health officials have been urging people to thoroughly wash their hands and cover their mouths when they cough.

CMP corridor campaign alleges ‘thousands’ of referendum signatures could be invalid
  • Clean Energy Matters attorney Newell Auger of Pierce Atwood LLP sent a letter to Secretary of State Matt Dunlap on Feb. 27 saying a woman hired to notarize signatures on Say No’s behalf — the main group behind a people’s referendum opposing the utility’s $1 billion proposed project — engaged in other services for the campaign, including sorting and organizing petitions along with notarizing them. State law says notaries are not allowed to provide other services to the campaign. It’s not clear who hired the woman.
New poll shows gains for Sara Gideon in tight Senate race against Susan Collins

  • Sara Gideon had 47 percent support in a hypothetical general election match-up with Susan Collins, while the incumbent Republican senator had 43 percent and 10 percent of voters were undecided.
$1.1M rehab will close Acadia National Park museum for 2020
  • The rehab of the Islesford Historical Museum on Little Cranberry Island should be completed in time for the seasonal museum to reopen in the summer of 2021.
