Message from Mike Norman, CEO |
|
There are a few more weeks of summer break ahead of us before students in Kentucky return to class in-person or virtually. We hope students returning to school in Indiana have transitioned back safely and with few hurdles in-person or online. Recognizing the need for students, parents, and educators to have curriculum-based resources to support distance learning, Kentucky Science Center is offering a library of Science Travels to You: Digital Learning courses. The hands-on experiences schools and families normally engage in onsite are now available virtually. Our team of talented educators are working hard to bring programs like the Challenger Center, Pulse of Surgery, and Science In Play to your home and classroom. While this change in delivery has presented some hurdles, we are excited because this new format provides the opportunity for schools and families to engage and learn with our programs without geographic limitations. Registration for camps is still open for the next two weeks and we encourage you to register your young scientists today. Several camp families have inquired about future Schools Out Pop Up Science Days and Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) support. In response to the need in our community and your request, for the past two days we’ve been fine tuning our strategy to offer families support for Non-Traditional Instruction. This support will include on-site internet, staff guidance, and access to the exhibits within the center. Stay engaged with our social media and your inbox to learn more in the upcoming weeks.
