View email online | | | | | Jun 5, 2020 | | | | | | Good evening There is no doubt that Covid-19 has hit the tourism and hospitality industries hard. For us in Lancashire, thousands of people are employed in these sectors and in some places, like Blackpool, visitors are our bread and butter. Much of our time is spent persuading people to come here, so it is frustrating, but necessary, that we can’t welcome them with open arms and treat them to everything we have to offer just at the moment. There will be a lot of work to do to make up lost ground when some kind of normality is restored. But there is one thing which we can all consider, which would make a huge difference to the entire UK economy and that is holidaying in this country, once we are safe to do so. We may not stay in Lancashire for every break, but I guarantee there are parts of the county few of us know and would enjoy visiting for a day or overnight stay. We should encourage people from other parts of the country to come here while we visit other UK tourist spots - that way we all benefit. Until next time, stay safe.
