How Cost and Formulation Affect Patient Adherence to Metformin Therapy
Letter from the Editor

Sometimes things will happen for no apparent reason, and then suddenly there is justification for a decision made. We were at Sam’s Club yesterday and for some reason I picked up a bottle of Vitamin D from the nutritional aisle. Maybe it was because it had been raining all day and I felt a lack of sunlight, I am not really sure why. When I tossed it in the cart my partner looked at me like I was crazy, and she questioned my decision.

My answer was simple: we needed to take Vitamin D. Today we looked at her lab values for her endo appointment--she has type 1 diabetes--and unbelievably she had low Vitamin D levels.

If that wasn’t uncanny enough, our intern, Brianna Belton, PharmD. Candidate, FAMU, College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, has an article about how low Vitamin D levels are linked to painful neuropathy. If you want to learn why I was smart to buy the Vitamin D, click here.
