Vodafone Australia has finally been bitten by the NBN bug and announced that it will follow the example of its Kiwi counterpart and offer homes and businesses a fixed broadband service before the end of 2017 to complement its mobile network.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has told a Senate estimates hearing that only 58% of households — 4.9 million — completed this year's census online, lower than what was expected.
