Volunteer Ted Needs A New T-shirt!

Calling all youth aged 5-17 years! Cockburn Volunteer Ted needs a new wardrobe with t-shirts for all occasions like Christmas, volunteering, beach clean-ups, helping the community, going to events and more!

Design a t-shirt for Volunteer Ted and if your design is judged as a winner it will be printed on a t-shirt for Volunteer Ted to wear out in the community and you could win one of these great prizes:

Meet a Cockburn Volunteer

This is Leonie the Co-Founder and President of Lightning Hoops Basketball Club.
 
What inspired you to become a volunteer?
It actually happened organically - I wanted something different for my kids which is why I created the club, I never really imagined it would turn into what it has.

What tips do you have for new volunteers?
Volunteering can be so rewarding. It gives you an opportunity to be part of a local community, make new friendships and can provide you with a sense of belonging. It doesn't need to take over your life just compliment it. We are always looking for new volunteers. 

Can you share an interesting story from your time as a volunteer?
Lightning Hoops has given me more than I had ever imagined! It started out with a small idea to create a club for my kids and close friends to being a large sustainable community club.  Every time I walk into the local Basketball centre and see all of the kids playing in our uniforms I say to myself " I created this, this is really cool" not only did I create something for my kids but I created a place for teenagers to take on coaching roles, uni students to get involved in coaching, parents to feel connected to something outside of their own homes.
