Dear Supporter, A little more than a year ago, UNHCR registered over 112,000 unaccompanied refugee children – the highest number on record. Today my colleagues in the field report these numbers are likely to rise even further in 2017. Without parents to care for them, refugee children are extremely vulnerable. They urgently need our help and protection. Adut, whose story is shared in the video, was separated from her parents and forced to flee her home as a child when war broke out in her village in southern Sudan. I am sure, like me, you will be moved by her experience and I hope it inspires you to take action today to help protect vulnerable refugee children. Every child deserves to be safe from violence and abuse, to receive an education and to have caring adults watching over them. Help the youngest and most vulnerable victims of the global refugee crisis: In the next few days you will receive a letter from me about the youngest and most vulnerable victims of conflict: refugee children who have become lost, orphaned or separated from their parents. Thank you for your support, Naomi Steer National Director Australia for UNHCR P.S - Please send a tax deductible donation by 30 June to ensure they receive the care and protection they need. |
