What kind of legacy will we leave when we die?

Franciscans gathered last month to remember and celebrate the life of our founder, Francis of Assisi. While this saint had no intention of starting a radically new way of life in the Church, that is exactly what he did! His legacy continues to radiate today through women and men who follow his way in the Franciscan Orders.

“According to the grace of God given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But each one must be careful how he builds upon it.”  –1 Corinthians 3:10

 

In order to establish a great legacy, there needs to be an intentional effort every day with the help of the Holy Spirit. We read about this recently in our Franciscan Spirit series “Seven Followers of St. Francis.” 

Franciscan Media’s publisher, Father Dan Kroger, OFM, is one of many Franciscans who continue the legacy of St. Francis. While his early brothers boarded ships in 1844 headed to the United States to serve immigrants, Father Dan boarded a plane to the Philippines to serve a growing community of new Christians.
