Research and Education Leads take VCCC Alliance forward


Eleven honorary Research and Education Leads across 10 tumour stream areas will drive excellence in collaboration to improve outcomes for people experiencing cancer, as part of the VCCC Alliance’s Strategy 2024-2029. The positions will amplify world-leading best practice and share learnings with colleagues across the Alliance members and further afield.

Regional cancer workforce education initiative goes national


A regional educational initiative first piloted by the VCCC Alliance in Victoria will now be rolled out nationally, with financial support from the Federal government. The alliance has been awarded $962,276 from the Australian Government’s Cancer Patient Support Program grants to help drive improvements in regional cancer care,

Victoria can remove regional and metro equity gap


Victoria could be the first jurisdiction in the world to remove the gap in cancer outcomes between regional and metropolitan areas, Professor Grant McArthur AO told the VCCC Alliance 6th annual Consumer Engagement Forum.

Experts to guide VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum


The VCCC Alliance’s regular Precision Oncology Forum has drawn together a stellar cast of experts to advise on topics going forward. Seven individuals from across VCCC Alliance members have joined an Expert Reference Group for the forum, which is co-chaired by Dr Joep Vissers, Curation Scientist Team Leader, the University of Melbourne, and Dr Huiling Xu Senior Research Fellow, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

New ways to treat hepatitis B and prevent primary liver cancer

Clinicians at St Vincent's Health are partnering with laboratory researchers at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Peter Doherty Institute and University of Melbourne to devise new ways of disrupting hepatitis B virus (HBV), using CRISPR-Cas 13 technology. In this session, you will hear how this new approach has so far been successful in markedly reducing levels of HBV antigens S and E, and of intact HBV particles both in cell lines and infected primary liver cells in experimental models.
