Virtual private network provider NordVPN has suffered an embarrassment, with one of the data centres in Finland it was using having been infiltrated in March 2018 through what it said was "an insecure remote management system".

The breach of the Australian Parliament network, announced in February, was the country's first national cyber crisis, according to the annual report of the Australian Signals Directorate for 2018-19 which was released recently.

Global content delivery network Akamai has achieved a peak speed of 106Tbps on its network, the first time that the peak volume of data has exceeded 100Tbps.

Swedish transport giant Volvo has invested in Israeli automotive cybersecurity company Upstream Security to fund the development of systems to protect connected vehicles following the introduction of data-driven technologies.

Security firm Avast has revealed that its internal network was breached through the use of a compromised VPN profile, with the target being CCleaner, a popular application that allows Windows users to perform routine maintenance on their systems and has been downloaded more than two billion times.
