Week 11 Waiver Wire
Quarterback
Drake Maye - He looks like a near-elite Fantasy QB to me.
If you want a closer look at Maye, I created twitter threads with film cut-ups from his Week 9 and Week 10 games. He could finish as the QB1 in Fantasy in Week 11 if the Rams-Patriots game hits the over.
Russell Wilson - The Moonboys have been torching defenses over the past three games. Next up is a Ravens defense that has allowed opposing quarterbacks to average +60 yards per game more than their season average vs. other defenses. Shoutout JJ Zachariason for that stat, I'll be joining him to record a Late Round Perspectives podcast episode later this week!
Running Back
Audric Estime - He's an early-down grinder for an offense that hasn't been able to move the ball as successfully as Sean Payton prefers to with the ground game. In Week 10, the rookie RB stepped up in a big way in a game that the Broncos nearly stole on the road vs. the defending world champs.
This is your top waiver wire claim at RB. I have no idea if the backfield shift will sustain past Week 10, but the potential for the change to stick makes Estime a waiver priority. There haven't been many fill-in RB options to choose from in the healthiest RB season I can remember.
Tyjae Spears - He returned to the field in Week 10 and could be a late-season Fantasy savior if Tony Pollard can't hold up deep into the winter. The upcoming schedule for the Titans is plenty inviting!
MarShawn Lloyd - I loved Lloyd as a prospect! We could see the rook work his way into a significant role late in the season.
Blake Corum - Same logic as Spears. Early-season bye week + a bellcow RB1 who has an injury history has me stashing the team's RB2 everywhere.
Trey Benson - Arizona's backfield belongs to James Conner for as long as he's healthy, but Benson's time could be coming at any moment. He got a few more touches than usual in a blowout Week 9 win over Chicago, one of which was a second quarter goal line touchdown. James Conner touched the ball eight times for 53 scrimmage yards on that drive but left briefly with an injury, so Benson capped the drive off.
Week 10 brought another blowout win, and Benson saw his role expand slightly as a result. It's worth noting that he did register two first quarter rushes against the Jets, though! Benson only had two first quarter carries all year prior to Week 10. I do think that he's been slowly gaining the trust of the coaching staff. For more detailed info on that, check out this awesome tweet from the Coachspeak Index!
Jaylen Wright - Maybe we see the rookie play a larger role down the stretch! Raheem Mostert only played 17% of the snaps and did not have a single rush attempt in Week 10 following a costly Week 9 fumble.
Cam Akers - He's the RB2 at the moment and would presumably get first crack at starting work if Aaron Jones were to miss any time.
Wide Receiver
Christian Watson - He's available in nearly half of CBS leagues, and there's enough upside with Green Bay's offense to grab Watson if in need of answers at WR. The first half of Green Bay's season was disjointed, but maybe the offense finds some cohesion following a Week 10 bye. The last time that we saw the Packers in action, Watson led the team in first-read targets and air yards. It only amounted to 37 yards, but that's just the game that we play when rolling the dice on Watson. The upside for 100+ yards and multiple touchdowns is absolutely intact if Week 9's usage is repeatable out of the bye.
The Packers take on the Bears in Week 11, and Chicago's defense has shown signs of leakiness lately. With an offense that is actively blowing holes in the ship, it's not really fair to cite the defense's leakiness. We could see Green Bay rout this Bears team, and after that, the Packers draw potential shootouts vs. the 49ers, Dolphins, Lions, and Seahawks.
Jalen Coker - Neither of Carolina's rookie receivers grades out particularly well in terms of the Fantasy Points Data Suite's separation metrics. Of the two, Coker's grades are slightly better than Xavier Legette's.
Coker left a lot of meat on the bone in Week 10. It could have been a huge Fantasy performance. I don't feel any level of confidence that Bryce Young and an undrafted rookie will often find themselves on the positive side of variance, but crazier things happen in the NFL! The opportunity is there, and Coker has flashed better hands than we saw on display in Week 10. In my opinion, Coker's ability to present an open target is the most notable takeaway from Week 10.
Curtis Samuel - Like Coker, Samuel's Week 10 role did not amount to much. Unlike Coker, Samuel plays with Josh Allen.
Maybe Samuel goes for a big game in a potential shootout against Kansas City in Week 11! Track Amari Cooper's status throughout the week; Samuel is at least a name to know for deeper leagues.
Tight End
Jonnu Smith - Miami's offense is not its usual self, and that's in part due to the fact that the TE position continues to be much more involved than expected. Jonnu Smith was written off by the Fantasy community after a less-than-inspiring stint with the Patriots, but he's always been an excellent source of yards after the catch. He might just stick around as a key piece of this Dolphins offense.
Davis Allen - The Rams may have given up on offseason acquisition Colby Parkinson as a receiving contributor.
