| | What on earth are shops actually going to be like now? | | So, shops are gradually reopening. Remember shops? They were buildings you used to go into. Occasionally you would ‘make a purchase’, which allowed you to return home with a new hat or mop that you didn’t really need or want. From Monday June 15, non-essential shops, from high-street favourites to achingly hip boutiques, will be reopening. But as you might have guessed, they won’t be the same as what we had before. We chatted to our friends in London retail and asked what the world is going to look like when the shutters eventually come up again. |

| | Is it time to pedestrianise Soho? | | One nice side effect of lockdown has been the easing of traffic on London’s usually vehicle-choked roads. You might have noticed campaigns popping up in your area, demanding the government puts in place measures to ensure the capital’s car-free state continues once we go back to normal. Leading the charge: Soho! Locals are pushing for a summer ‘festival’ during which certain streets would be pedestrianised, allowing the neighbourhood’s many restaurants and bars to set up tables outdoors. Like the idea? Why not lend your voice to the campaign? |
