| 🌧️ After some dry, stable days, we’re headed back into an unsettled pattern as dew points increase. Some isolated to spotty thunder chances are possible later Thursday afternoon and evening. The best chance of widespread thunder is Friday into Friday night. 😎 The system pulls out early Saturday, allowing for clearing skies and dropping dew points. | 🧪 Science Museum of Minnesota lays off 43 employees. The museum said the move was a response to declining attendance rates, as well as decreased state and federal funding. The museum will eliminate 43 full-time positions, a workforce reduction of 13 percent. 🚔Father charged in death of Columbia Heights teen Manny Collins. Authorities have charged a man with second-degree murder after his 16-year-old son was found dead weeks after going missing. The teen’s remains were found in late June after an exhaustive search of an Elk River landfill. 🕯️ ‘A bright light’: Nancy Cassutt Ison worked in journalism for more than 40 years. During her more than four decades in the journalism industry, she worked her way up from reporting for a TV news station in Duluth to helping to lead the newsrooms of both WCCO-TV and MPR News. 🗳️ Couple admits submitting hundreds of fake voter registration forms. Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon, who oversees the state’s elections, said that the couple filled out more than 500 fraudulent voter registration applications. 🏫 St. Cloud State University's interim president to depart early. St. Cloud State University's interim president, Larry Dietz, is leaving his role early. Dietz has been serving as interim president since last July. His tenure was supposed to last two years. 🏈 Minnesota extends P.J. Fleck's contract by 1 year through 2030 with retention bonus bump. Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck has agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2030 season with an increase in retention bonuses. Fleck's annual $6 million salary remains the same. 👮 Two charged in 'massive' methamphetamine seizure in Minneapolis. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has charged two people in what officials are calling a "massive" methamphetamine seizure, describing the 892 pounds of illicit drugs allegedly recovered as "staggering.” 🎸 Paul McCartney to play U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis in October. Minnesota Beatles fans, get ready to twist and shout: Paul McCartney will be playing U.S. Bank Stadium this fall. The music icon announced his “Got Back 2025” tour with 19 shows across the U.S. and Canada — including Oct. 17 in Minneapolis. |
