Labor Day weekend starts on a warm noteA summery air mass is lingering into the Labor Day weekend, bringing highs in the 80s and 70s over the weekend. Highs Friday will range from the 60s in northern Minnesota to the lower 80s in south, with sunny skies. 

Walz: 'We are not out of the woods,' as Minnesota reports 1K new cases. Gov. Tim Walz on Thursday warned Minnesota sits at a “tipping point” in the COVID-19 pandemic, putting the state’s gains at risk as cases skyrocket. He implored Minnesotans to stay vigilant to stem the spread of the disease over Labor Day weekend and beyond.

Among recent outbreaks in MN: A wedding reception has resulted in 56 COVID-19 cases. State Infectious Disease Director Kris Ehresmann today said Health Department analysts know of an indoor wedding in southwestern Minnesota with 275 guests. There are now 56 cases associated with the wedding, scattered over nine counties, she added.

Minnesota Supreme Court expected to expedite voter-aid case. Justices will decide if a pair of laws covering the level of assistance permitted for voters will remain active or be suspended. A lower court halted enforcement. The case is one in a sprawling battle over the way the 2020 election will be conducted.
