Recent deaths of eagles and owls in Minnesota have drawn a lot of attentionand the University of Minnesota Raptor Center says it is important to stay engaged and report sick or dead birds.

At the Raptor Center 37 eagles, owls and hawks tested positive for the virus from March 28 to April 19 this year.

Walz to lawmakers: ‘No special session’
Gov. Tim Walz says he will not call a special session if legislators fail to get their work done on time. The 2022 session ends May 23. Lawmakers are considering many proposals for spending the state’s $9.25 billion budget surplus.

Police kill person in Chisholm; BCA investigating
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident, and whether squad or body cameras captured any of it. The BCA typically investigates when a police officer in Minnesota kills someone while on duty.
 
Study finds patterns of chemical exposure in MN children
Children in rural areas of Minnesota were more likely to be exposed to a certain herbicide used on crops and on lawns. Specifically, there was a link between the proximity of a child’s residence to cornfields and how much of that pesticide might be found in their urine samples.  
 
U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar meets with Pakistani leaders
U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar met Wednesday with Pakistani leaders in the first visit by a member of Congress since a new coalition government came into power in Islamabad last week after the ouster of former premier Imran Khan. 
Meet Patron, a bomb-sniffing Jack Russell terrier who has become a Ukrainian hero
Two-year-old Patron works with State Emergency Service rescuers in the northern city of Chernihiv, where he sniffs out Russian bombs (in addition to warming laps, nipping sleeves and generally being a good boy).
