IMPORTANT NOTICES

Payment for Snow Sports Programme

To be part of the Snow Programme at Cardrona, Treble Cone or the Snow Farm your child must be registered and payment made by this Friday 9th July.  Please visit the school website for information on these options.  LINK HERE.

Snow Day Procedure

If snow occurs overnight, a decision regarding school closure, or a delayed start, will be made in the morning – we will notify you by the following methods:
  •       Radio Wanaka – 92.2FM
  •       Our school website – home page
  •       Bulk email
  •       Our School App
If the school closes during the day due to snow, we will notify you via the methods above – please refrain from phoning the office.  Buses will not run.  Children can be collected and signed out from their classrooms where they will remain under the supervision of a teacher.  If you are personally unable to collect your child, then other arrangements should be made for collection.

If a parent wishes to have someone that is recorded as an emergency contact collect their child, the pick up person should go to the classroom, provide identification (if not known to the teacher) and sign the child out.

Now is a good time to consider your emergency contacts – and ensure that the office has recorded the details of at least two people, living locally, who you trust to collect your child if the school closes due to snow.

Leaving Wānaka Primary School

If you and your family are leaving Wānaka Primary School at the end of this term and you have not notified our office, can you please do so as soon as possible.  Thank you.
BOARD BUZZ

Recapitation Update

Thank you to everyone who attended the recapitation drop in sessions the other week. It was a good turnout and there were a lot of great questions and ideas shared. The board or trustees have met and discussed the feedback. We have resolved to seek more information around the issue of transition ages and developmental stages to share with our community. We will share the feedback from the drop in sessions with the Ministry of Education and other schools and will also ensure the issue is a part of future discussion regarding the growth plan for the Wānaka area. If anyone has further questions or feedback please contact Howie at boardchair@wanaka.school.nz.

Watch out for an information email around recapitation before the end of term.
CURRICULUM COMMENT

Student Led Reporting

Thanks to the high number of parents, grandparents and caregivers who turned up to our student reporting to parents sessions.  The conversations heard between parents and children were heart warming as were the proud smiles on the faces of both parents and students.  All of the parents I spoke to during the day affirmed that this type of reporting is a huge success.  We look forward to catching up with those of you who have booked an interview for either today or tomorrow.  If you have not booked an interview yet and you would like to do so please go to the School Interviews website www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter our school code - y2a2d.
PB4L SCHOOL-WIDE GOAL

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PB4L

PB4L School-Wide looks at behaviour and learning from a whole-of-school as well as an individual child perspective.  The framework is based on international evidence and is helping New Zealand schools build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life.

Each fortnight we focus on a school wide goal to encourage positive behaviours, the current goal is  'We Work and Play Safely' - you might like to reinforce this in your discussions at home.
