IMPORTANT NOTICES

Tribe Day - This Thursday

We will be having a tribe day this THURSDAY (24th June) for National Volunteer Week.  Our fabulous team of tribe leaders will be helping the children with a variety of activities aimed at helping others and our environment.  Please come dressed in your tribe colours!

Mid Year Reporting

This Friday 25th June student written reports will be uploaded to the Edge Caregiver Portal for you to access.  We will inform you once this has been completed by email.  To access this please visit: EDGE PARENT PORTAL

If you are having trouble logging in please email Jason - jasonc@wanaka.school.nz for assistance.

Next Wednesday 30th June we invite parents along to join their children in the In Class Reporting Sessions (either 11am-12.30pm or 1.30-3pm or 5-6pm) where children will share evidence, workbooks, assessments and tell you about their own progress and achievement over the second half of this year.

The third and final part of the reporting is to make contact for an interview with the teacher if you feel you need further information or have a question to ask.

Parent Interviews

  • Tuesday 6th July 3:20 - 5:00pm
  • Wednesday 7th July 3:20 - 5:00pm
  • Thursday 8th July 3:20 - 5:00pm (Rooms 14 and 15 only)
Please note: Rooms 2, 5 and 20 will now all organise their own interviews at a later date.

Please go to the School Interviews website www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter our school code - y2a2d - to book a time to meet with your child's teacher.  Our Literacy and Numeracy Specialist Teachers - Marg Grieve and Emma Stewart are also available on Tuesday and Wednesday.

If you do not have access to a computer, or you wish an interview to be placed for you, please contact Katrina.

Many parents commented in our reporting feedback that they did not need to attend all 3 reporting sessions so don't feel obliged to book time with the teacher if you feel well informed about your child's learning and achievements.

School Closing at 12:30pm on Thursday 1st July

On Thursday 1st July, the NZEI are holding a Paid Union Meeting (PUM) for teachers starting at 1pm. This PUM is an opportunity for teachers to discuss upcoming contract negotiations.  As all but one of our teachers is an NZEI member, and this is a paid union meeting during the school day, we will be closing the school for instruction.  We are asking parents to pick their children up early - 12:30pm.  Buses will be cancelled.  We will be able to provide minimal supervision for children who cannot be collected early - and it would be first in first served. If you require your child to be supervised at school please contact the office no later than Monday 28th June.  I know this is inconvenient but this meeting is very important to continuing to improve the working conditions of teachers, which also means an improvement in the learning conditions for our students (e.g. class size and staffing provision for extra programmes) in our primary schools.
CURRICULUM COMMENT

Special Thoughts

Our thoughts are with Wendy and her family this week as they come together to celebrate her dad's life.  Unfortunately, he passed last week and Wendy is with her family in Christchurch as they say goodbye to their much-loved father, grandfather and friend.  We wish them all the best during this difficult time.
