This PUM is an opportunity for teachers to discuss upcoming contract negotiations. As all but one of our teachers is an NZEI member, and this is a paid union meeting during the school day, we will be closing the school for instruction. We are asking parents to pick their children up early - 12:30pm. Buses will be cancelled. We will be able to provide minimal supervision for children who cannot be collected early - and it would be first in first served. If you require your child to be supervised at school please contact the school office asap. I know this is inconvenient but this meeting is very important to continuing to improve the working conditions of teachers, which also means an improvement in the learning conditions for our students (e.g. class size and staffing provision for extra programmes) in our primary schools.
Any children who have not left the school grounds by 1pm will be taken into Pod 6 so parents know where to find them. Leaving Wānaka Primary School? If you and your family are leaving WPS at the end of this term and you have not yet advised the office, can you please do so as soon as possible. Thank you. |

Mid Year Reporting By now you should have viewed your child's mid year report in the Edge parent portal. If you have not please do so, so you have information about your child's progress so far this year. This will be beneficial for the In Class Reporting Session and Parent/Teacher Interviews. In Class Reporting Sessions Tomorrow, Wednesday 30th June, we invite parents along to join their children in the In Class Reporting Sessions (either 11am-12.30pm or 1.30-3pm or 5-6pm) where children will share evidence, workbooks, assessments and tell you about their own progress and achievement so far this year.
We also have Murray South from ERO and Sue Heath (Wendy's appraiser) coming along to see what our 3-tiered reporting system is all about. Parent Interviews Many parents commented in our reporting feedback that they did not need to attend all 3 reporting sessions so don't feel obliged to book time with the teacher if you feel well informed about your child's learning and achievements.
If you would like to book a time to meet with your child's teacher please go to the School Interviews website www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter our school code - y2a2d. Our Literacy and Numeracy Specialist Teachers - Marg Grieve and Emma Stewart are also available on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Interview days and times: - Tuesday 6th July 3:20 - 5:00pm
- Wednesday 7th July 3:20 - 5:00pm
- Thursday 8th July 3:20 - 5:00pm (Rooms 14 and 15 only)
Please note: Rooms 2, 5 and 20 will now all organise their own interviews at a later date.
If you do not have access to a computer, or you wish an interview to be placed for you, please contact Katrina. |

Thank You Thanks everyone for your warm welcome back to school and your kind words following my father's passing. He lived a life well-lived and he was a man well loved. We gave him a grand send off. Emergency Drills Over the next few days we will be practising our emergency drills - fire evacuation, earthquake, and school lockdown in case of an intruder. Please talk to your children about what they do in these drills and have a talk about what these drills look like in your home. Legal Conference The leadership team are taking part in an online conference for 2 days next week focusing on legal and governance issues that we as school leaders may face. I have taken part in these, usually in Auckland or Wellington, and they are excellent. U.C. and C.O. Swim Sports Well done to our swimmers who took part in the Upper Clutha Swim Sports today.
