CAMP DATES FOR YEARS 4-6 TERM 4 Week 4 Monday 4th - Friday 8th November - Pod 7 - Year 6 - Waiora Monday 4th - Friday 8th November - Year 5 Students (2 Camps of 2 nights/3 days at Camp Columba) Monday 4th - Friday 8th November - Year 4 Camp Week (Individual class dates yet to be decided - Camp is 1 day/1 night) Week 5 Monday 11th - Friday 15th November - Pod 8 - Year 6 - Tirohanga IMPORTANT NOTICES Schooling Options for 2020 Info Evening - Wednesday 4th September - LWC 7-9pm For all parents of primary school aged and preschool children The principals of Wanaka Primary, Holy Family, Hawea Flat and Take Karara schools have organised a question and answer session around 'WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS IN THE UPPER CLUTHA FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLING IN 2020' to be held on Wednesday 4th September at 7pm at the Lake Wanaka Centre. This is an opportunity to receive information and ask questions about school zones, options for children who are currently at WPS but live outside of the new WPS zone, transition to school programmes for children turning 5 in the next six months, school bus options, etc.
This meeting comes ahead of an online form that we will ask parents of WPS children and any parents of preschoolers to complete, so our cluster of schools has some data about enrolment numbers at each year level for 2020. As you can imagine, Take Karara and Wanaka Primary School would like to know how many children they can expect for the start of next year so staffing can be confirmed. We are seeking return of this information from all parents by the end of term 3. Thursday Cardrona and Treble Cone Skiers A reminder please to sign in with our staff when you arrive at either of the skifields. This is a health and safety requirement that we must abide by. Parking Consideration Please Please be considerate to the school's neighbours and don't park over their driveways - both on Totara Terrace, Ironside Drive and Kings Drive. Missing Shoes from Cardrona Rentals A pair of black and white Van platform shoes must of mistakenly been picked up in rentals last week - if you know of the whereabouts of the shoes, can you please contact the school office. |

Tribe Day Fun Run and Sausage Sizzle Friday 6th September On Friday 6th September, we are holding a Tribe Day Fun Run and Sausage Sizzle at school. We would like the children to gather sponsors for the event and money raised will go towards further development of the field for children to use at break times. We are hoping to landscape the hill behind pod 8 as a quieter space for children to go, as well as building a ball wall and seating outside pod 7. |

Friday Night Lights School Gala Friday 13th September - 5.30-8.00pm Friday Night Lights is a hugely popular and fun event for our school community showcasing our school talent, with stalls, activities and a food court, the evening ends with a grand finale.
We are still looking for some helpers and we truly appreciate any time you can give, as we all know ‘many hands make light work’ and the small amount of volunteer time you can offer is all that we need to ensure this event stays on the calendar.

Friday Night Lights - Light Up the Catwalk Fashion Parade Friday Night Lights in being held on Friday 13th September and so it is time to start thinking, with your children, about a design for the 'Light up the Catwalk Fashion Parade'. The theme this year is 'FRIDAY THE 13TH' so lit up and scary is what we are looking for. A form to register for the fashion show part of the night's entertainment can be found here so start thinking about those great designs and the materials you will need and register as soon as you have made up your mind. |

Friday Night Lights - Entertainment We are seeking students to take part in the stage entertainment, so if your child is interested in dancing, singing, playing an instrument, etc. they need to email Wendy (wendyb@wanaka.school.nz) to register their interest. The hall is usually pretty noisy at our Friday Night Lights School Gala so soft singing voices and a lone instrumentalist are hard to hear over this, even with a strong sound system. So groups performing together or dances with loud music is the way to go. Tell your children to come and talk to me if they would like to discuss the item they would like to perform. I will be shoulder tapping some of those Wana-be-a-Star performers as well. |
