IMPORTANT NOTICES

Leaving Wānaka Primary School?

If your child / children are leaving WPS at the end of this term and you have not advised the office, can you please do so as soon as possible as we will be starting to plan classes for 2021 soon.

If your child is in Year 6 and leaving to attend MAC there is no need to contact us. However, if your Year 6 child will be attending a different school, please advise us of this.

Pokemon

Can we please have no Pokemon cards at school as these lead to distraction and conflict.

Wānaka Primary School Board of Trustees Election

Nominations are invited for the election of two parent representatives to the Board of Trustees.

The voting roll is open for inspection at the school and can be viewed during normal school hours.

CURRICULUM COMMENT

School Photos

Thank you for sending your children looking so gorgeous for the school photos today.  Heritage photographers whip through the classes and we have always had great photos, and this year I am sure will be the same.  The photographers have a special way with our kids and usually get a smile, but also make the whole process enjoyable.

School Camps

Next week we have the Year 5, Year 6 (Pod 7) and Year 4 camps happening and so the school will be pretty quiet.

Board Meeting

There is a Board meeting next Monday 2nd November and as always everyone is welcome to attend.

Babies Everywhere!

Katie's last day was Friday and is now on maternity leave and Carin is teaching in Room 24. The transition will be very smooth as Carin knows the class well.

We wish Katie and her husband Ben the best as they move into parenthood.  On that note I am away from school from 5th November through to 20th November as I am about to become a grandmother for the first time.  I am still available by email wendyb@wanaka.school.nz during this time.  Whilst I am on leave Kerry and Jason will be 'acting up' (sensibly I hope...lol) so please contact them during this time as  they are here on the spot.

Also congratulations to Mel in Pod 2 who is having a baby in February next year.

Pod Artwork Unveiling this Friday 11am

We warmly invite you to join us in the unveiling of our new pod designs that will be placed beneath our pod names to further tell the story of Weni and the Kowhai tree.  The kapahaka group will welcome you all in at 11.15am sharp so please wait by the hall when you arrive.  We would love to see all parents come, especially those of children in our Kapahaka group.   After the pōwhiri and the telling of the story, accompanied by the unveiling of the artworks, we invite you all to join us in kai - the humble BBQ sausage provided free and cooked by the PTA, along with a coffee (we will have Hamish here with his coffee cart) and a chance to look at the artworks up close.  All children will receive a sausage from the PTA; if you want your child to have a gluten free sausage, or not to have a sausage at all, please let the office know.
