Please Don't Drive Fast Around School Just another reminder to please slow down not only in the carparks but also on the roads surrounding the school. There is a 40km school zone on both Kings Drive and Totara Terrace - but you can even go slower if there are children around. What's the rush? - if you are late, 1 or 2 minutes is not going to make a lot of difference, but injuring a pedestrian young or old is not a consequence you would want to live with.
Also remember if a school bus has stopped you must slow down and drive at 20 km/h or less until you are well past - no matter which direction you are coming from. |

Thanks Go Out To Our PTA At the Board of Trustees meeting on Monday we were very happy to receive a $12,000 contribution from the PTA for our Pod 8 Playscape Project.
The money comes from the amazing fundraising activities they do, including the Motor Homes on the School Field, Friday Night Lights, Father's Day Breakfast, Mother's Day Movie Night and the Ski Sale. As a school, we are very fortunate to have this group working to bring our community together and raise funds for our children. The Pod 8 project will include an Orchard/Sanctuary on the hill behind Pod 8 as well as landscaping around the building. The children have been involved in the designing and planning and this project will add massively to the education and play opportunities for them.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the PTA for all their efforts in making our school the great place that it is.

ONE NZ Summit 2019 Last week Wanaka Primary School participated in three events at the ONE New Zealand Summit 2019 in Wanaka.
On Wednesday some students took part in two planning workshops around the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in the Lake Wanaka Centre. Their task was to think about Wanaka in 2050 and how to make sure that we fulfill all of these sustainable development goals.
On Friday several students took part in three activities around town. They learnt about Te Kākano's activities at Waterfall Creek, about NZ Forest and Bird's and Wanaka Backyard Tracking activities at Mt Iron and about Friends of Bullock Creeks activity at the Bullock Creek Boardwalk.
Finally, on Sunday, Wanaka Primary School had a stall at the Eco Fair where we displayed various science projects that we run at school.
It was great to see out school being involved in this event for the second year in the row and everyone involved just loved being part of this summit. |
