A reminder that our school day starts at 8:30am.  For health and safety reasons children should not be on the school grounds before 8:30am.

Help Required with Sausages for Tribe Day

On Thursday, as part of our tribe fun run day, the PTA are hosting a sausage sizzle for the children. We are in desperate need for some parents to help with cooking and serving.

You don't have to be there for the whole time but if you could spare half an hour or so any time between 9am and 12pm, we would be really grateful!

Many thanks
Wānaka Primary School PTA

School Photos

School photo proofs have been sent home with the children this week.  If you wish to place an order, please follow the instructions on the order envelope.

Orders need to be handed into the school office by Monday 23rd November.
No late orders will be accepted.

Leaving Wānaka Primary School?

If your child / children are leaving WPS at the end of this term and you have not advised the office, can you please do so as soon as possible as we have started to plan classes for 2021.

If your child is in Year 6 and leaving to attend MAC there is no need to contact us. However, if your Year 6 child will be attending a different school, please advise us of this.
BOARD BUZZ

Recapitation Survey

The Board would like to survey our community about the idea of Year 7 and 8 students staying at Wānaka Primary School. The process of returning Year 7 and 8 to primary schools is called recapitation. There are many things to consider in this process and we would like to see if there is widespread interest in exploring this course of action. Issues such as resourcing, well being, equity etc will all need to be a part of any conversation. There will be a survey coming out shortly to see if this is a direction our community wants to take.
CURRICULUM COMMENT

School Organisation for 2021

A reminder that this week is your last opportunity to talk to your child's teacher if there is anything you want us to know about your child's placement for 2021 as next week we will start looking at options for teachers and students to bring about the best combinations for our students' learning.

Year 6 Transition to Mount Aspiring College

Time is sure flying by and before we know it the school year will be over. However we still have a lot to do before then, so it’s business as usual.

Over the last two weeks a small group of our Year 6 children have had the opportunity to visit MAC in preparation for 2021 with all our Year 6 group having their transition meeting on Monday 30th November from 9:45am - 12:30pm, where they will meet with Deans, Year 7 teachers and will join in some activities planned for them.

A reminder that the Mount Aspiring College meeting for parents of Year 6 children is next Wednesday 25th November.

Tribe Fun Run, Sausage Sizzle and Mixed Berry Ice Creams

The Tribe Fun Run is being held this Thursday at school. Children are to come to school dressed in tribe colours and also ensure they bring a sunhat, water bottle and a change of clothes as we are hoping to have a water slide at the end where they may get wet.

If you have pre-ordered sausages for your child please ensure they bring their $2 and give to their classroom teacher - tomorrow would be great.  Ice creams are paid for, on the day, when they are collected from the Men-Love Berries caravan.

Parents are welcome to come and support this fun event - coffees will be available to purchase from the Men-Love Berries caravan.

Format for the Day:
  • School Starts as normal 9am
  • 11.00am - after morning tea break children will be taken to the field
  • 11.30am (ISH) - Year 0, 1, 2 and 3 Junior Fun Run will start
  • 12.00noon (ISH) - Year 4, 5 and 6 Senior Fun Run will start
  • After the finish of the senior's fun run children will return to their pods to get their lunches and their pre-ordered sausages and then head back out under the shade sails for lunch all together as a whole school.  Parents are welcome to stay for lunch.
  • School as usual in the afternoon finishing at 3pm.

Pod 5 Bake Sale at Morning Tea this Friday
