In fantastic news, Splendid Park cycling facility in Yanchep – the first of its kind in Western Australia – is officially open! Mayor Linda Aitken Yanchep’s the cycling capital of the StateThe State’s first full criterium off-road cycling facility is officially open – and it is right here in Yanchep. The new cycling facility at Splendid Park winds its way around the park’s existing ovals and hard courts. The facility is the first of its kind in the State and supports casual riding, racing, schools' bike education and riding events. Read moreFIFA scores Women's World CupKingsway Regional Sporting Complex will host the Denmark international side as part of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. AARC progressing swimminglyThe Alkimos Aquatic and Recreation Centre (AARC) will advance to the detailed design stage, after Council endorsed the progression of the project. The City has received funding commitments from both the State and Federal governments for the AARC, which will feature indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym and fitness facilities, a crèche, café, change rooms and a car park. The next stage of the project will provide a more accurate picture of the facility, the costs and the construction timeline. Read moreA new chapter begins for Dordaak KepapThe City is one step closer to breaking ground on Dordaak Kepap, the proposed Landsdale Library and Youth Innovation Hub, after Council approved the concept design last month. The name Dordaak Kepap, meaning Place of Living Waters, was chosen through consultation with Noongar elders and community members to reflect the site the facility will sit on, overlooking Broadview Park. Learn more2023 free Community Calendar pick-upThe 2023 Community Calendar contains essential information such as waste collection dates, school and public holidays and free community events. The Calendar is now available for collection at the City’s Civic Centre, your local library, Wanneroo Aquamotion, Kingsway Indoor Stadium and Girrawheen Hub. Pick-up detailsChurch Street shared path open for businessCity of Wanneroo Councillors and staff joined Wanneroo Primary school students to celebrate the official opening of the new Church Street shared use path in Wanneroo. The 700-metre path, which stretches from Wanneroo Road to Scenic Drive, was recently upgraded to a three-metre wide red asphalt path, which can now be enjoyed by walkers, joggers and bike riders. The Department of Transport provided funding for the project through the WA Bicycle Network Grants Program. Find out moreLocal golf courses to offer fun for the whole familyThe City has appointed Belgravia Health and Leisure Group to run the Carramar and Marangaroo golf courses. Belgravia will now work with current resident clubs and extend the club experience to offer a range of inclusive programs including Golf Australia’s Get into Golf Program for All Abilities, Women and Seniors.
