In this month's edition, we celebrate the winner of the prestigious City of Wanneroo Community Art Awards and Exhibition, reveal the Name a Truck competition winners and their successful submissions, uncover the City’s school holiday hot spots, and more. Mayor Tracey Roberts JP City's Art Awards celebrate local talentRebecca Dagnall (pictured) has been named the overall winner of the prestigious City of Wanneroo Community Art Awards and Exhibition for her artwork, Sacrifice. Rebecca was one of 11 winners whose talents were recognised at the Art Awards, taking home a share in the $18,700 prize pool. The City received 150 entries to the Awards, including 87 paintings, 35 works on paper and 17 sculptures. Of these, 55 artworks were contributed by City of Wanneroo residents. Visitors to the exhibition can take part in the judging of the People's Choice Award by nominating their favourite artwork, with the winning entry to be announced on Tuesday 19 April. Eight local children, from just two to 12 years old, came up with some fantastic names for our new recycling trucks, and can now look forward to seeing them emblazoned on the new additions to the fleet later this year. We received hundreds of entries and were impressed with the variety of names proposed – some creative, some meaningful, and some just very funny! Located next to the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, the accessible toilet and changing facility is suitable for people with high support needs and those who cannot use standard accessible toilets. The delivery of the facility is part of the City’s commitment to ensuring our parks, facilities and open spaces are accessible and can be enjoyed by all residents and visitors.
