Dear reader,
Almost nothing makes me happier than coming upon a building that doubles as high art. (Toronto has enough utilitarian boxes, thank you very much.) One needs only to recall the world-renowned debut of Will Alsop’s flying table at OCADU—and how the structure’s icon status has grown over the past two decades.
Now, Caledon is knocking on the door. Curb Appeal’s top post this week is a $13.3-million architectural marvel that looks like something Le Corbusier might have drawn up had he worked for NASA. It has too many tantalizing features to list here, but my favourite is the blade-like copper roof that cantilevers above a 1,000-square-foot oak terrace overlooking acres of forest.
