Happy holidays, folks. What do you have on your Christmas wish list? I can tell you what LSU coach Brian Kelly has on his: Guys who can play tight end. Tight ends have always been an integral part of the Kelly offensive approach. The importance of them is even a little more intensified with the Tigers on the even of the early signing period Wednesday. Our Wilson Alexander tells us how Kelly and his staff are going about addressing that need in this recruiting cycle. The current team of Tigers will be leaving for Orlando and their appearance in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in about a week. When they get there, former Saints and Purdue great Drew Brees will be waiting. Brees, as most of you know by now, is serving as an interim volunteer coach with the Boilermakers through the bowl game. Brees was up in West Lafayette, Indiana, on Monday and talked to reporters there about working with his old team head into the Jan. 2 bowl game. In case you're wondering, the Citrus Bowl kicks off at noon CST on ABC. There's more LSU news off the football field. Women's basketball forward Angel Reese took her double-double act to the Hawaiian islands over the weekend and helped the Tigers come back with a pair of victories and a top-10 AP ranking. Monday, Reese, who has a double-double in each of LSU's 12 games, was named ESPN's national player of the week. So far, the sophomore transfer from Maryland is averaging 24.6 points and 14.6 rebounds per game and is shooting at a 63.5% clip. The Tigers (12-0) are off for the Christmas break until they open SEC play in a huge early game Dec. 29 at Arkansas (6 p.m., ESPN2). And if the holidays are here, LSU baseball season can't be that far away. Monday, three LSU players were named to the Collegiate Baseball preseason All-American first team. You can probably guess, but find out which Tigers right here. That's all for now, everyone.
