💻️ Tech Tip From Kim Komando |
Butt out: Writing Tools is Apple’s AI that cleans up text in any app. If that creeps you out or it’s just annoying, switch it off. Open Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. Turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions, then tap Intelligence & Siri > Writing Tools > Don’t Allow. Heads-up, this only applies to iPhone 16 models, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. 🛳️ Retiree Decides To Live on a Cruise Ship Full-Time |
A 77-year-old high school teacher left a California retirement community to live on a cruise ship for potentially up to 15 years. |
Sharon Lane, who taught foreign languages, is paying approximately $3,000 a month for an inside villa aboard the Odyssey, which is scheduled to sail on 3.5-year cycles (425 destinations, 147 countries). |
The ship includes Wi-Fi, a pool, a pickleball court, a fitness center, a library, a spa and entertainment lounges, clubs and bars. |
“Not only was it affordable to me, it would actually cost me less money to live here like this, have everyone taking care of me instead of me taking care of everybody,” Lane said after leaving a popular Orange County (Southern California) retirement community. |
She’s visited Vancouver and Alaska in the first few weeks and soon will embark for Japan and Taiwan. |
“I’m finally able to do what I’ve wanted to do for years,” she said. |
Clark has expressed a fascination with retirees living on cruise ships. On the plus side, you get to travel and you typically have immediate access to decent healthcare. |
But he also cautioned that for many people, the reality of living year-round on a cruise ship, often in an interior cabin with no views, isn’t as enjoyable. He recommends that only experienced cruisers consider such a decision. |
