A professor has been charged after killing her cop boyfriend |
Forty-two-year-old Massachusetts professor Karen Read has been charged with murder for mowing down her Boston cop boyfriend and leaving him for dead after a night of bar-hopping. The incident took place during a nor’easter. Read, who is an adjunct professor at Bentley University, was indicted on three charges which include motor vehicle manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision causing death. She was allegedly dropping officer John O’Keefe off outside a friend’s house just before the incident. She claims she went home and did not remember what had happened and became worried for O’Keefe’s safety after she learned he did not make it back home from a party. That was when she noticed the damage to her SUV. She found him unresponsive in a snowbank and attempted to revive him. Read has plead not guilty, and her attorney says there are “grave reasons to be concerned about the ethics of the police investigation.” |
