This mother dreamed of giving her children better lives than her own or that of their father. But how? |
Abandoned by an alcoholic husband and too poor to support her two children, Sibirah, a mom in Asia, was filled with despair and thought suicide was the only way out. But whenever Sibirah thought of her children and their futures, she knew she wanted to live and give them decent lives. And she knew that education was one of the only means for her children to escape the kind of life she lived. |
Sibirah encountered a glimmer of hope when she heard about an opportunity for her son Rajdev to be enrolled in a tutoring program. This Gospel for Asia-supported Bridge of Hope center would provide Rajdev with enough paper, pencils and school supplies to attend school and tutoring to help him in his studies. |
In many regions in Asia, education is offered to all children through government schools, but each child is required to provide for their school supplies and school uniform. Many families are unable to afford these items, resulting in a hindered education for their children. But Bridge of Hope is able to provide these supplies for them, along with useful gifts such as blankets, sleeping mats and even some cooking items, which are distributed to the children in the centers throughout the year. |
Today, Sibirah is still a single mom, but because of the help and encouragement her family is receiving through the GFA-supported Bridge of Hope center, she can face the future with a new sense of optimism. |

In order to continue to help families in need, like Sibirah and Rajdev, the Unsponsored Children's Fund is a support net for these children. All that stands between them and a healthy, promising childhood is $1.15 a day ($7 a week)! With your help, children in Bridge of Hope can have what they need to succeed. |
