Stuggling under a wave of carjackings. And the latest on Saints coaching search

By Bob Warren

The wave of carjackings sweeping over the city has a lot of folks on edge. Carjackings in the city climbed 160% during the pandemic -- and few have ended with arrests, our Jeff Adelson and Matt Sledge report.

Speaking of carjackings, DA Jason Williams held a news conference late Wednesday to announce some indictments in one spree that did result in arrests. He said the four people involved are accused of eight armed robberies in a single day. Eight.

Federal judge dies: A long-serving federal judge has died. U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman, who was appointed to the federal bench in New Orleans by President Reagan in 1983, suffered a heart attack Wednesday night. He was 87.

Still a mystery: Figure out yet what that big boom was the other night in New Orleans? When you do, please tell the rest of us. The cause of the house-shaking noise remains a mystery. Here’s our latest sleuthing.

Power check: Thousands of people live in neighborhoods that are governed to varying degrees by homeowners' associations. A Mandeville lawmaker has proposed a bill that would check the power of those associations. And it started with complaints about barking dogs, our Sara Pagones reports .

Saints search: Finally, the Saints are trying to find the next Sean Payton. Media reports today revealed two of the candidates the team seeks to interview.

Hope you enjoyed Lunch Line today. Thanks for taking a break with us.
