The Ravens-Chiefs line keeps dipping but Pete Prisco says he's just not buying Baltimore after it beat up on two bad defenses. I gently explain to Pete why he's WRONG (I'd even sprinkle in a Ravens moneyline bet as a good play) and R.J. White's with me on this one as we break down all our Week 3 best bets and more.
We know your week wouldn't be complete without another bizarre Antonio Brown story where he gets traded/cut/makes a demand/gets accused. This time AB was cut by the Pats, so we broke down the timeline of this crazy roller-coaster ride, and also sized up what might come next for the ex-Steeler, ex-Raider and ex-Patriot.
The Dolphins look like a mortal lock for the No. 1 pick after just two games, and their main area of need is ... everything? That's why Josh Edwards says the reasonable thing is for Miami to bet on Josh Rosen and get better around him. The Pats' release of Antonio Brown lifts the value of Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon and more, but they're not exactly sleepers. Jamey Eisenberg went a little deeper to find players who can lift your team, including Darwin Thompson and Jordan Wilkins, who might still be on your waiver wire, and an NFC QB you probably weren't thinking about.
So far, so good. Jason La Canfora is 4-1-1 on the season with his best bets, and both dogs he backed last week nearly won outright. This week, Jason says it's time to trust a Chargers defensive line that hasn't been getting much pass rush so far but will get going against the Texans' porous OL, and check out the BIG number he's not afraid to lay.
For the first time in a non-strike season, two teams are underdogs of more than 20 points in the same week. What does it mean, other than that the Dolphins and Jets stink? I took a look at all the other times a spread has been 20-plus points, and found some interesting trends that might help your wallet.
Gardner Minshew is off to the best start of any rookie QB in NFL history after leading the Jags past the Titans, and Minshew mania is now sweeping the land. The sixth-round pick's story is amazing and also bizarre, and the most bizarre part is what he once did in college to try and advance his career. Check it out here.
