NEWS: We are back in communities!

DPM have happily landed on Dunghutti Country on the mid north coast of NSW!

It feels amazing to have the wheels back in motion following a long break between community based projects due to Covid19. Over three weeks we have been working with mob in beautiful South West Rocks and Kempsey thanks to Healthy North Coast through the North Coast PHN Program.

It has been an incredible time with a beautiful sunset Welcome to Country, beach ceremony and a massive community turn out of all ages. We look forward to droppin' some deadly new songs in the coming months!

'Back creek to back beach, belong by the sea

Smokey Cape Waterfall’s sacred to me

Chilling with my dhawirr (little sister), we swim and we dance

To the songs of our elders, while clapping our hands!

You will always find us out at figtree, meeting place for our family

We be fishin’, swimming, hunting, crabbin’, living our cultural way

Wirrawin (telling stories), Guwyata (talking), singing out song under the canopy

Standing for marrgan (arakoon), every single day'

Fig Tree's Finest - Dunghutti Burri
Break it Down - Bunyarra
Bunyarra is the Bundjalung word for ‘in good health’, and we are very proud to present this beautiful new short film for mob in response to COVID19. ⁣ ⁣
Starring and co written by Arakwal traditional owner and friend, Delta Kay - this production was created by an amazing group of artists - Robert Sherwood Films , Toby Finlayson, Coedie Mccarthy and Josh Nicholas . ⁣ ⁣ This yarn is about connectedness, resilience and country. We hope that the world is able to carry some of the stillness and mindfulness we have all felt recently into our new reality. ⁣ ⁣ This project was funded by Healthy North Coast through the North Coast PHN Program.
We've reached 30,000!
You may have noticed that we have been putting a lot more energy and focus into our social media in 2020. For us it has become an important platform which allows us to share, connect and to inspire a greater audience. In light of COVID19 it has also been an effective way to deliver important information specific to mob about their health and wellbeing.

Since December we have had our new Marketing and Communications Coordinator Renae Saxby running our social platforms and we have just reached 20,000 followers on Facebook and 10,000 on instagram! Jump over and follow us on Instagram so that you can see daily stories, posts and watch our IGTV channel @desertpeamedia

A moment of reflection
"It was a great experience working with DPM. I've always loved music, it's always been something I wanted to do so to get this opportunity to make a song was deadly.'
