Pictured is the team behind the world class tools made here at HNT Gordon. By working together and combining our skills we have been able to develop more tools, as well as make and sell more existing tools. We are very proud that we make everything in house here in Australia to a very high level of quality.
Starting from right to left we have myself (Tamaris) – I am Terry’s daughter and have worked for the business on and off since I was 10 years old. I have been working here on a more serious level for the past 5 years in which time I completed my degree in business and marketing. I am responsible for all of the business, logistics and marketing. I also dabble in going to wood shows which is a great excuse for a working holiday 😁
Next we have Terry - the owner and founder of HNT Gordon who still gets his hands dirty making planes. And sometimes annoys me in the office. 😂
Following we have Chris – Chris was a doctor and went on to study furniture design at ANU in Canberra. Chris has been working with us for 3 years and plays a big part in preparing the timber and brass into what we call plane blanks ready for the finishing work to make a hand plane.
Next is Julian Napper – Julian joined us as a qualified fitter machinist who had worked in the marine industry. He has been working with us for 4 years and is responsible for the production of all our bench vices, and operates our modern 4 axis CNC mill and other manual lathes on which they are made. He has played a big part in the development and improvement of these vices to a world class standard.
Next we have Lachlan Napier – Lachie was a panel beater and is also a Sturt graduate from 2017 who has been working with us for over 12 months now. He is heavily involved in the fitting out of all four vices that we make. Lachie is responsible for making all of our spoke shaves and is learning to make other hand planes.
Next is Gene – Gene is currently on trial with us here and was a graduate from Sturt wood School in 2018. Gene is currently learning the ropes at HNT Gordon.
Nelson Gordon (Not Pictured) is also involved on a part time basis doing computer drawing. |
