Good morning, and welcome to the September 26 edition of the Saints Insider Newsletter. Let's get to the news. Bullet: dodged? The news could've been a whole heck of a lot worse for the Saints when it comes to their prized quarterback. Derek Carr suffered a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder during Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, but after going through an extensive battery of tests, the Saints believe Carr will be "week to week." Columnist Rod Walker was there for Dennis Allen's press conference Monday, and he's got the details. Welcome backIt might've felt like doom and gloom after the Saints blew a 17-point fourth quarter lead in Lambeau Field Sunday, but they had a nice pick me up waiting for them in the facility Monday morning. Alvin Kamara's three-game suspension is officially over. He's back to work, and the Saints couldn't be more excited about that. Closing thoughtThough Dennis Allen left the door open for Carr to return to the lineup as soon as this weekend against Tampa Bay, the likeliest course of action seems to be that the starting quarterback will miss some game action. New Orleans has some available roster spots at its disposal, and only one healthy quarterback on its active roster — not counting Taysom Hill, whom the team will almost certainly not consider its QB2 on game day, because that would eliminate his regular multi-purpose role. If Winston is indeed starting this week, it would be a surprise to see New Orleans not pick up some help at quarterback this week. That's all we've got for now, stay tuned for more during what should be an interesting week at 5800 Airline Drive. Cheers, Luke Johnson |
