Desert Wind Winery is proud to announce our transition to a new family of owners! In partnership, two well-established Washington vineyard and winery families, Josh & Lisa Lawrence and Tom & Tami Merkle are pleased to continue the tradition of great wines and warm hospitality long-established at Desert Wind by the Fries family for over 20 years.
In 2020, the partners along with other investors, also acquired Desert Wind Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope. The purchase of Desert Wind Winery has brought the project full circle to once again encompass grape growing and wine production under the Desert Wind name.
Winemaking at Desert Wind will be directed by Matías Kúsulas, a Chilean native who moved to Washington state in 2016 after making wine all over the world for several years. Kúsulas holds multiple degrees in enology and related fields, and also serves as viticulturist for Desert Wind Vineyard, Conner Lee Vineyard, and Lawrence Vineyards.
