| A whole different animal | Yes siree, the rumours are true: London Zoo is back! And to be perfectly honest with you we couldn’t be more pleased. After all, where else in London are you going to see a load of animals gadding about in all their glory? And no, Leicester Square on a Friday night doesn’t count.
Of course the zoo isn’t simply swinging open its doors and letting you all flood in. To ensure everything is super safe and to allow everyone to visit responsibly, a lot’s changed So, allow us to give you everything you need to know so you’re all set for your next visit.
Okay, so when you enter you’ll be invited to follow one of three routes. Depending on which one you choose, you could be heading into the rainforest, across the savannah or to India’s Gir Forest. But don’t worry, you can check out all the routes in one visit if you want to – and why on Earth wouldn’t you?
There’s more, too. As well as the specific one-way routes, there are timed entry slots, limited visitor numbers, clearly marked two-metre spacing for queues, hand-sanitiser stations and face coverings required in indoor areas and walk-through exhibits. Oh and the zoo only accepts contactless payments, which means you won’t have to carry any cash. Just like the Queen.
So what are you waiting for? This is your chance to go and see all the amazing animals, from gorillas, tiger and lions to mongoose, meerkats and monkeys. Oh and two cracking little otters, Bubble and Squeak, who were born during lockdown and who are just about the cutest things you’re likely to see this summer.
And remember, by visiting London Zoo you’ll be supporting essential conservation work and scientific research. With the zoo being closed for three months of lockdown during peak season, the money that funds this incredible work took a hefty hit so please do consider donating if you can. We reckon your animal pals will be pretty grateful. Now go! Have fun. It’s great.
