Friend,
Something a little weird happened here. At the end of each month, we ask for your help hitting a monthly goal (in this case, 100 donations) to keep us on track for the year … except we had to interrupt our fundraising campaign in January because we got some late-breaking news that Trump officials declared war on NPR and PBS (again).1
Defending public media is essential to who we are at Free Press, so we put everything aside to intervene (and many of you took action with us already) — even though that meant missing our fundraising deadline.
The Trump plan is to keep us on the back foot with manufactured chaos, and we can't afford to fall behind. Will you start your very first gift to Free Press today? If you’re able to help today, we can still face February’s challenges from a strong position. Trump and his cronies are attacking free expression. They cloak themselves in the language of free speech, but they have completely warped the First Amendment to go after journalists, civil servants, immigrants and just about anyone who doesn’t fit their billionaire worldview.
They will continue to go after truth and facts to undo years of progress and to undermine civil rights. But at this moment, we have no other option: We must fight their campaign of chaos and keep going to build a better future.
In the coming months, we will shine a light on the truth and do everything in our power to throw sand in the gears of the Trump administration’s blatant attacks on free speech. And in the face of the administration’s threats, we will work to protect human rights for all.
But your support is essential to sustaining these efforts, which is why we have to ask: Will you rush a donation to Free Press? With so much on the line for our democracy, we can’t afford to fall behind.
Thank you very much,
Candace and all of us at Free Press
