Good evening everyone,

An email conversation with a reader has provided food for thought regarding our mental health during the pandemic.

Restrictions on social interactions have already been re-introduced in some parts of the county where cases are increasing - and it looks as though other areas of Lancashire could well follow suit.

With all the worries around job security as well as fears for our physical health, it is easy to forget that our lives have changed beyond recognition in the past few months.

Many of us will be feeling isolated - from family, friends and work colleagues. And while that is something we may be able to cope with for a temporary period, in the longer term it is certain to have a detrimental effect on our mental well-being.

So my plea to all of you today is to be a little kinder to those around you and to be on the lookout for the signs of anxiety and depression amongst your family and friends. This is something none of us have experienced before and that makes it frightening for us all. But if we stick together and look out for each other, life will look better for us all.

Feel free to drop me a line at gillian.parkinson@jpimedia.co.uk.

Until next time, stay safe.

Gillian
