Diagnosed with bowel cancer at 38, shortly after the birth of her son, Tammie is now classed as NED (No Evidence of Disease) thanks to high-impact research that enabled her to receive personalised treatment. "I was lucky enough to be a candidate to participate in a trial that essentially tested by tumour to check if it was a circulating one. My chemo was based on my specific tumour rather than the general standard of care. This meant that I would have only four rounds instead of eight. So after four rounds, which included two stays in hospital and COVID, I finished my chemo in early 2023 and returned to work and βnormalβ life." ~ Tammie. |
